Majorca third day - Cala de San Vincenc and Campanet

Our hotel
We wake up to a continuation of yesterdays weather, if not a little windier. Kathy didn't sleep very well as the wind had been pounding the rain against our window all night so decided to have a lie in as there was no planned morning ride due to the conditions.

However, John, Maggie and I decide to brave the conditions and head for Cala de Sant Vicenc and have coffee. It's only a short 40 minute ride but the destination is fabulous.

The lanes and hills behind

The ride out is along the lanes with a steady climb up to the five star hotel which also houses a private car collection that you can view through the windows. It is a fascinating collection of British sports cars, luxury saloons and motorbikes including Rolls Royce's, Jaguars, MG's and Harley Davisons.

From here we roll down to the first bay Cala Bargues where a big sea is rolling in and exploding through the blow holes in the limestone rock formations. We continue round to Cala  Molina where the cafe is situated. This is a spectacular bay made all the more so by the wild weather.

We enjoy a lovely coffee before climbing out of the bay via a different route taking in the Coves de l'Alzinaret which are a group of middle bronze age burial caves.

From here we head home in time to meet up with Kathy and grab some lunch before heading out again.

There is some confusion as to who is leading the ride so we miss the first group leaving and so decide to go with Ralph. However, Ralph has misplaced his gloves  so Kathy, Maggie, Dennis and I decide to go alone and unguided (very brave)!

After one initial wrong turn primarily due to some confusing instructions we get rolling along the lanes and are on our way to Campanet.

The final push towards Campanet is along the undulating valley that finally leads to the climb up to the village itself. The final climb is pretty step and winds its way through the narrow village streets before opening out into the main square. Here the cafe and bar sits in the she shadow of a large and impressive church. We have coffee in the square before heading back along the same route back to home.

Shortly after leaving Campanet we are joined on the road by Alan who cycles with us back to the hotel.

The sun is now out, the skies are blue so it's time to join Maggie and Dennis for drinks on the balcony.
